Scott Harrison

Associate Conductor

Appointed Music Director of Silverthorn Symphonic Winds in November 2007, Andrew Chung also serves as Music Director of The Brass Conspiracy and the Chinese Canadian Choir of Toronto. While attending the University of Toronto, he was appointed Music Director of the Pickering Philharmonic Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as Music Assistant at Opera Mississauga and has guest conducted Hart House Orchestra, North York Concert Orchestra, Toronto Philharmonia, the Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra, Northdale Concert Band, the Toronto Chinese Youth Orchestra, Mississauga Youth Orchestra and Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra. 

As an orchestral musician, Mr. Chung served as the principal trumpet with the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, the Hong Kong Youth Symphony, the Asian Youth Orchestra (under the direction of Yehudi Menuhin and Alexander Schneider) and the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. He made his solo debut with the Mooredale Festival Orchestra. He has also played with Hamilton Philharmonic and Talisker Players. 

Mr. Chung attended the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Toronto and the University of Freiburg, Germany. His trumpet teachers include Stephen Chenette, Robert Nagel, Henry Nowak, Jeffrey Reynolds and Larry Weeks. He also studied privately with Arnold Jacobs and Murray Crewe. A scholarship from the Centre d'Arts Orford allowed him to study conducting with Raffi Armenian and Agnes Grossman. He has also participated in the Conductors Apprentice Program with the Huntsville Festival of the Arts Orchestra. His other conducting teachers include Dwight Bennett and Kerry Stratton.

 

 

Keith Reid

Assistant Conductor

Keith Reid has earned a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Toronto where he also was the recipient of the Victor Feldbrill National Graduate Fellowship in Orchestral Conducting. While at University of Toronto, Mr. Reid conducted the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Symphony. He has also led various ensembles with members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra at the University Toronto’s Walter Hall and MacMillan Theatre, and also at Massey Hall. During twelve years, Mr. Reid was Music Director of the Hart House Symphonic Band. He has also conducted the Hart House Summer Orchestra during six consecutive seasons. Mr. Reid is also Artistic Director of the Festival Wind Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Cambridge Community Orchestra, and Conductor of the Settlement Singers chamber choir at the University Settlement Music and Arts School. He has also been active as a conductor and a performer in many musical theatre productions including How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Once On This Island, Kiss of the Spider Woman, A Chorus Line.
