Kindred Spirits Orchestra is a highly dedicated group of musicians, striving for excellence while sporting a spirit of togetherness and enjoyment in music making. Music Director Kristian Alexander provides with finely balanced leadership that brings together a detail-oriented approach with inspiration for his fellow musicians. I recently played a Mozart concerto with the orchestra: the sound was great and contributed towards the creation of an extraordinary experience. Congratulations on your performance! I look forward to future collaborations.

How exciting to know that the symphony orchestra — an ensemble that began to take recognizable shape in the late 16th century — is alive and flourishing in the 21st century? And what better sign of the vitality, fascination and interest engendered by a symphony orchestra than the creation of a new orchestra in a thriving Canadian city thousands of miles away from the orchestra’s European birthplace?

Orchestras Canada/Orchestres Canada is a national organization with the mandate to serve as the united national voice of the Canadian orchestral community. We at Orchestras Canada/Orchestres Canada salute the founders, leaders and performers who make up the Kindred Spirits Orchestra. Your dedication to high artistic standards, music education, the mentoring of gifted youth, community involvement and sound management practices will serve you — and the communities you help to unite through music — well.

Best wishes for a successful inaugural season!
