Helena Holl

Helena Holl, a dramatic soprano, began her vocal studies at Moscow’s Gnesina Musical Academy. She continued her musical education at the Moscow Lunacarsky University of Dramatic Arts, where she has earned a Master of Fine Arts degree, while studying with Boris Pokrovsky (Bolsoi Theatre) and Dina Potapovskaya (Stanislavsky Theatre). Ms. Holl was invited to perform in numerous productions with Moscow Operetta Theatre, Moscow Stanislavsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, and Bolsoi Theatre. To a great acclaim, she performed the roles of Fedora in Kalman’s Circusprincess, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, and the title role in Verdi’s Aida. After moving from Moscow to Budapest, Ms. Holl became the leading singer at the Interoperetta Theatre for seven years. She performed the evergreen arias of Lehár, Abraham, Kalman and Strauss, along with other celebrated artists of the Hungarian Opera and Operetta theatre. With Interoperetta Theatre Ms. Holl sang over 170 concerts each year in the prestigious Pesti Vigado Theatre. Her New Year’s Eve gala concert performances were broadcast throughout Europe and Asia. During this time, Ms. Holl was invited to sing at the Xanten Arena Theatre in Germany and the Bromberg “Opera Nova” Theatre in Poland in the roles of Saffi in Strausse’s The Gypsy Baron and Sonya in Lehár’s Tsarevitch. In 1999 Ms. Holl made her North American debut in a Gala Benefit Concert at the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. The same year she was invited as a soloist in the “Salute to Vienna” Concert Series, where she has performed until 2009. In 2000 Ms Holl performed the role of Tatiana in Yevgeny Onegin at the CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. She was also invited to sing arias from Aida, Lady Machbeth and La forza del destino in “Viva Verdi” concert series in Toronto and Hamilton, and, the following year, in Italy. In May 2009, she has performed as a soloist at the Klezmer Magic Concert held at the Toronto Center for the Arts and at the Théâtre Outremont in Montreal. She returned the same year to the Interoperetta and performed in their live television production. Helena Holl currently sings at the annual Spring Opera and Operetta Gala in Toronto. She has performed with great success at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver and at the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver. In addition, she performed concerts at the Arlene Schnitzer Hall in Portland, the Cerritos Centre in Los Angeles, the Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego, the Chrysler Theatre in Windsor, as well as across Germany, France, Austria, Holland and Switzerland.
