Marta Herman

Mezzo soprano Marta Herman is quickly making a name for herself as a compelling emerging artist. In 2010–2011, she will complete her final year as a member of the University of Toronto Opera School, give solo recitals presented by the Harbourfront Centre and Imaginus International, perform as a soloist with the Guelph Symphony Orchestra and the gamUT New Music Ensemble and, as a winner of the 2010 Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques competition, she will travel to Montreal to participate in various concerts and events. Ms. Herman’s operatic roles include Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Hansel in Hansel und Gretel, The Old Lady in Candide, and Lisetta in Haydn’s Il Mondo Della Luna. Past performances include appearances with the Celebrity Symphony Orchestra and the Arcady Ensemble. Marta has honed her craft working with Joan Dornemann and Mignon Dunn, and currently studies with Mary Morrison. She spends summer 2010 as a member of Joan Dornemann’s International Vocal Arts Institute, and John Hess’ Queen of Puddings Summer Songs & Scenes program.
