Youth Strings Mentorship Programme

KSO Youth Strings mentoring programme has as a main goal to further develop the technical and artistic skills of young musicians, and give them the opportunity to play side-by-side with professional musicians during weekly rehearsals, as well as during concerts. The Kindred Spirits Orchestra accepts a maximum of five gifted young string musicians: one sectional first violin, one sectional second violin, one sectional viola, one sectional cello, and one sectional double bass. Letters of Intent and resumes are accepted on an ongoing basis. Within two weeks after receiving the Letter of Intent, the candidate will be invited to audition.

For the audition, candidates are to prepare two contrasting pieces of their choice, plus one orchestral excerpt. Candidates should also be ready to demonstrate proficiency in sight reading and ear training. We invite candidates who are 18 years old or younger, and who have passed Grade 10 examinations at the Royal Conservatory of Music (or equivalent) to apply.
